In winter, our bedrooms become cozy cocoons where we shield ourselves from the cold weather and the stresses of the day. When I was growing up, I loved waking up in the middle of the night in my cozy warm flannel sheets. It felt as if my body woke me up specifically to enjoy the sleepy, hazy warmth of my bed and revel in the fact that I still had a few hours in which I could sleep.
Flannel is an incredibly soft and warm material. They make it so that no matter what your bedroom looks like, when all the lights are turned off you feel as if you are sleeping in a log cabin in the middle of a nordic forest. The combination of flannel plus nordic patterns is a great way to channel hygge and make your bedroom all the cozier.
Here are Deer
And elk, moose, and reindeer. There’s something majestic and magical about these northern forest dwellers. Maybe it’s because we know they’re there, the quiet and secretive keepers of the forest. Yet sometimes, if you’re lucky, they will let you see them. And they only let that happen in moments of complete silence and stillness. Perhaps that’s why deer are such a popular design motif. They remind us of stillness that we long for in our hectic lives. But your bedroom doesn’t have to (and shouldn’t) be that way. Let the deer remind you of that silence before you drift off into dream land.
Polar Bears and Cold Weather Creatures
Like deer, polar bears are majestic creatures, the white guardians of the glaciers. But these polar bears are super cuddly. There are also many other beautiful creatures that can cozy up your flannels this winter like sweet little birds and penguins. Question of the day: Is the penguin an appropriate winter animal for the Northern hemisphere? Leave a comment.
Let it Snow
The weather outside may be frightful (trust me, I live in The Netherlands :P). But there’s something doubly cozy about having snowflakes on your warm flannel sheets. It’s like you’re somehow celebrating yet also cheating nature because these snowflakes warm you up. And you can revel in this delicious dichotomy with these frosty flannels.
